It’s a clean sweep for Stokes-La Rosa’s three-year old sprinter, Bob’s Skeet. The three-year old male, owned by Robert Stokes, out of Gable Dodge and Bob’s Fraschilla took home both of the top awards given nationally in the greyhound industry, the Rural Rube and Captain of the All-American Team.
The latest award, announced just this week, the All-American Team Captain, is an award given annually to the top greyhound in America as voted by the American Greyhound Track Operators Association. Along with the Captain, the All-American Team consists of the eight best greyhounds in the U.S. as voted by the 40+ greyhound tracks. Joining Bob’s Skeet on the team are Extruding Dream, Ozzie The Man, Greys Calibrator, Kiowa Delicate, Cajun Cain, Dragon Fire and Kay V Tatoo Tony.
Just a couple of week’s before the All-American Team was named, Bob’s Skeet was announced as the Rural Rube Award winner; this award is given annually by the National Greyhound Association to North America’s best sprinter. Bob’s Skeet was the third Rural Rube Award winner in Gulf Greyhound Park’s 14-year history; however, he was the first ever elected as the Captain of the All-American Team; although, the track has tallied six first team All-American’s, including Skeet, in her history.
Gulf Greyhound Park is planning a “Bob’s Skeet Night” at the track in April as a congratulatory thank you to Skeet and the crew at Stokes-La Rosa Kennel. Along with a great start in 2007, Bob’s Skeet’s tremendous accomplishments in the 2006 season are listed below:
