Another Record Crowd at the Adoption Reunion Parade

La Marque, Tx – A record crowd of over 180 adopted greyhounds and their families came to Gulf Greyhound Park on Sunday, November 11 for the annual Greyhound Adoption Reunion. The reunion featured a parade of past stars and costume contest.
Once the fastest canine athletes on the planet, these greyhounds are now living the dream in retirement and are happy and content couch potatoes. There were greyhounds dressed in many different outfits. The parade was conducted on the track and featured a contest honoring the funniest, most creative & most patriotic costume, as well as an award for the “Eldest,” reunion attendee.
The funniest costume was an ex-racer dressed as a tiger shark. The most creative award went to a tandem dressed like a flower and bee, owned by Laura & Rhonda Conner, and the most patriotic greyhound was dressed in a red, white & blue boxer shorts that resembled the American flag. The oldest retiree to attend the Reunion & Parade in LaMarque, Tx. was 13 year old Freckles born on 09/22/94 and owned by Tim & Jennifer Define.
Following the parade and costume competition, the honored guests enjoyed a “doggy treat” buffet and other special surprises. Since opening its doors in 1992, Gulf Greyhound Park has placed more than 2,000 greyhounds in area homes through their adoption program.
