Bob’s Skeet Cruises to Third Straight Stakes Win
|
By winning the Texas Spring Shootout on Saturday night, May 20, Bob’s Skeet completed a stakes sweep in the month of May at Gulf Greyhound Park! The 2-1/2 year-old sprinter from the Stokes – La Rosa Kennel earned a solid victory in the Spring Shootout to grab his third straight stakes victory in as many weeks.
First, on May 6, Skeet took home the hardware and big money by winning the $20,000 Texas Round Up. He qualified throughout the month of April by winning three of four races and earning the spot as Texas’ best sprinter. The following week, on May 13, Bob’s Skeet took home another trophy in front of a national crowd. With a huge come from behind victory, ironically for the second week in a row running down Pat Dalton’s Too Late; Skeet grabbed the Night of Stars Feature against the best Gulf Greyhound Park had to offer.
Finally, this past Saturday night, winning his third straight stakes event, Skeet romped in much the same fashion as before. He came out of the two-hole untouched, which gave him a clear run to the first-turn, and usually that is all he needs. He once again followed Too Late to the 1/8-pole, and from there, it was all Skeet. Bob’s Skeet’s game is driving up the backside and down the homestretch, and his game was on! “When he cleared the first-turn with no trouble and had a clean run on the backstretch, it was all Skeet’s race,” said Tommy La Rosa, Stokes – La Rosa trainer and co-owner. “This is one of the fastest greyhounds, if not the fastest, in the country.”
Bob’s Skeet won by four-lengths and clocked a fast 30.17 over 550-yard course to take home the trophy. The remainder of the field ran as follows: 2nd-Bob’s Streak, 3rd-Swagger Stick, 4th-Sans Shadow, 5th-Too Late, 6th-Santan Runaround, 7th-Keeper Mokie, and 8th-CL I Have Power. |
